Revision Workshop
5 week group sessions $250 (excluding Writing Revolution Workshops)
5 week individual sessions $275
This new round of workshops will focus on what my previous participants have said they really value in my workshops: revision! I love it and hope you will too by the end of this 5 week session. The structure of the workshop will afford us the opportunity to read writers that will inspire interesting prompts so that participants can have a little space to create in each session. It will also afford us ample time to do revision of writing that you have been molding for awhile. As we revise, we will apply some interesting techniques and tools that will help you shape and hone your work in ways you may not have thought possible.
Individual Workshops are also available: 5 two-hour sessions for $275. I tailor the workshop to the goals you'd like to reach. I have worked with writers to produce new work, edit individual pieces and structure whole manuscripts. Please use the form below to contact me to discuss your goals.

#WritingRevolution Workshop:
Toni Morrison said that “If there's a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it.” I would amend this slightly and say “If there's a [revolution] that you want to [see], but it hasn't [happened] yet, then you must write it.” So, in that spirit, I am offering a new workshop series called #RedactUs: Writing Each Revolution.
The premise of the workshop is birthed out of the very clear realization that in these times we live in, more and more people take to social media to march their fingers like soldiers across keyboards. They see their words become weapons on a battlefield that quite often is unfamiliar terrain to them. Filled with landmines often hidden behind peaks and valleys that they didn't know existed, Oftentimes people don't know the terrain or the history of that terrain and so their responses to pivotal events and moments in our world can seem misguided, incendiary or hurtful and so often then do the complete opposite of what they've intended. And some people are simply just afraid to enter the conversation.
Writing, however, has been, can and should be revolutionary. So #RedactUs: Writing Each Revolution will do a few things to help people look at the world around them, identify the particular places/events/moments that require a revolutionary response, and then write revolutionary FB posts, essays, tweets, etc. that will effectively create change. In the workshop we will:
1. Read writers who in the past and present have been poets and prose writers writing in pivotal moments, whose words have helped shift the pendulum from injustice to justice. We will be reading revolution so that we can write it.
2. Get rooted in and interrogate the particular histories that need to inform our own writing on the issues that each of us chooses to write about.
3. Present opportunities for each of participants to identify injustices and then assist in each participant’s choosing from those a pivotal social justice moments/events/issues to respond to with writing that is informed by the past in ways that allow participants to:
a. accurately, honestly and humanely respond to the present so that participants can
b. rectify and transform injustice
